    In addition to programs of special interest, the South Holland Public Library offers story hours, book discussion groups, reading clubs, and video presentations as regularly scheduled events.

Enlighten Your Life With Reading!
Registration for the Adult Summer Reading program is now open and ends Saturday, July 3.

ELIGIBILITY

This program is open to all South Holland Residents 15 years of age or older with a valid South Holland Public Library card.

REGISTRATION

Participants must register for the Adult Summer Reading Program at the Adult Reference Desk between June 7 and July 3.

READING PROGRAM RULES

  • The Adult Summer Reading Program will begin on June 7 at 10:00am and will end on July 31 at 5:00pm.
  • Participants must register by July 3.
  • All books or audio books must be from the current adult collection of the South Holland Public Library or obtained through Interlibrary Loan from the adult department of other libraries. No juvenile material or magazines will be allowed.
  • Before returning books, participants must record the titles of the books at the Adult Reference Desk.
  • Upon returning the fourth book, the participant will receive a prize and a coupon to fill out that will be entered into our "Grand Finale" Drawing for additional prizes. For each additional four book read or listened to, the participant will receive an additional coupon for the drawing. All books must be recorded and coupons must be turned in by 5:00pm on July 31.
  • The "Grand Finale" Drawing will be held on August 3. Winners need not be present to win and will be notified by telephone.

Film Presentation: Grand Canyon

Thursday, August 5 at 1:30pm

Film Presentation.

See the Grand Canyon from both the South Rim and North Rim, board a mule for a trek down to the edge of the Colorado River, and explore the Colorado River by raft. Learn how the Grand Canyon was formed and trace its rich history.

No registration required.

 

 

 

 

 

Regularly scheduled programs include story times and seasonal reading clubs. A variety of special programs are held for children of all ages throughout the year.

Strengthen your reading skills this summer!
Registration for the Youth Summer Reading Program is open now and ends Tuesday, July 6.

READING PROGRAM RULES:

  • All Book must be from the South Holland Public Library.
  • You must read books on your reading level. We will not count books that are too easy for you.
  • You have a choice of reading 10 books OR reading 10 hours.
  • Your goal is to read 10 books/hours by July 31.
  • The deadline for recording books or returning your chart is Saturday, July 31 at 5:00pm.
  • Reading folders for recording books are kept at the library.
  • Hour charts are kept at home.
  • Incentives are given after completing the 3rd, 6th, 9th, 10th and 20th book/hour. Participants reaching the 25th book/hour will be entered into a raffle.
